JoFotara-Linked Accounting Software in Jordan: Odoo vs Qoyod vs Daftra
Most accounting software in Jordan links to JoFotara, so linking is not the decider. Qoyod or Daftra suit small teams; Odoo suits importers with landed costs, several currencies or an Aqaba zone company. Zoho Books, Al-Ameen, pricing and migration covered.

Best accounting software linked to JoFotara in Jordan? Linking is the minimum, not the decider
Almost every option in this comparison can send invoices to JoFotara, the national invoicing system run by the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), natively or through a connector. Linking is the minimum, not the decider. The real question is how much of your business the software runs after the invoice. Our short answer, as of October 2026:
- A sole trader or small service firm issuing a few invoices a month may not need software at all. ISTD's 2026 procedures guide, as quoted by Qoyod, lets taxpayers without an accounting system issue invoices on the JoFotara portal through a sub-user.
- A small team that needs linked invoices, sales-tax reports and basic stock: Qoyod or Daftra. Both are cloud tools with Jordan pages and free trials, and neither needs an ERP project.
- A company already living in Zoho apps: Zoho Books with a third-party JoFotara extension.
- A company on Al-Ameen whose workflows run well: ask your Al-Ameen agent about its Jordan tax connection before changing anything.
- An importer or distributor buying in dollars and euros, with landed costs, several warehouses, a showroom POS, a QIZ production line or more than one company: this is where Odoo, a full ERP, earns its implementation cost.
If a partner quotes you SAP Business One, which SAP builds for small and midsize businesses and sells through partners, ask whose JoFotara connector you would run. We found no official SAP add-on, so the connector and its updates would come from the partner or a third party.
How each option links to JoFotara, and what to test in a demo
Under ISTD's rules as Qoyod summarises them, invoices must come from the JoFotara portal or from software linked to it. Linking uses a Client ID and Secret Key from the portal's device-linking service plus your Activity Number. Every vendor documents a link: Odoo's l10n_jo_edi comes with the Jordan localization as free LGPL code, Qoyod uses the same three values, Daftra claims a direct link, Zoho Books uses Marketplace extensions such as Simplify9's, and Al-Ameen lists a JTS Connection Service. Then, in every demo:
- Send a special-tax invoice, not a simple one. In Odoo, the taxpayer type (Unregistered in the sales tax, Registered in the sales tax, or Registered in the special sales tax) sits under Accounting, Configuration, Settings, Electronic Invoicing (Jordan).
- Send a credit note against it. Odoo hides Reset to Draft after sending, and refuses a credit note not linked through Reversal of or without the return reason in Customer Reference. Qoyod also lists debit notes; Odoo sends them to JoFotara under the ordinary invoice code.
- Send a POS receipt; Odoo uses l10n_jo_edi_pos.
- In a two-company database, ask to see separate credentials per company.
- Check the QR code JoFotara returns on the PDF.
- Pick the Invoice Type. Odoo offers Local, Export and Development Area, plus Transit, Foreign Trade and Free Zone Transfer, added to versions 17, 18 and 19 in June 2026 and accepted only for companies Registered in the sales tax.
Odoo also requires JOD as the company currency and a company name matching ISTD's record exactly.
Landed cost in dinars: when an Amman importer needs an ERP
Qoyod and Daftra are not accounting-only: both sell tiers with stock and manufacturing. Qoyod's POS and payroll products appear on its Saudi pages, and its payroll follows Saudi labour law, so ask what it sells in Jordan. Al-Ameen ERP 10 covers accounting, warehouses, POS, distribution, manufacturing and HR. The difference is how tightly each step feeds the next.
Take an importer in Amman with a second warehouse in Zarqa. One Odoo database handles:
- Purchases in dollars or euros, with exchange rates updated automatically (Enterprise only; in Community you enter rates yourself) and exchange differences posted to their own journal. The dinar is pegged to the dollar, but a euro order's dinar value still moves before payment.
- Landed costs: customs, Aqaba port charges, clearance and trucking spread over received products valued at average cost or FIFO.
- Stock in both warehouses, with reordering rules.
- Showroom POS and B2B invoices, both sent to JoFotara.
- A separate company in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone with its own JoFotara credentials (multi-company needs Odoo's Custom plan). Confirm the zone's sales-tax treatment and invoice type with your tax adviser.
- Payroll on Odoo's Jordan localization, Enterprise-only. Check its rules against your Social Security Corporation contributions before go-live.
Multi-currency no longer separates the tools. The test is whether a late customs bill, booked as a landed cost, re-costs stock at once; Odoo 20 also re-costs units already delivered. For a QIZ garment line, compare bills of materials, work orders and subcontracting, not the word manufacturing on a plan page.
Pricing in Jordan: who you pay, and when the price jumps
The pricing model decides how your bill grows:
- Odoo: per user per month, with one plan for the whole database. HR employee records without a login count too, though an Odoo advisor can quote a cheaper Light User licence. Adding a second company or installing Studio moves the database to Custom, and every user with it. Odoo.sh hosting is billed separately, and so is implementation.
- Qoyod and Daftra: tiers that limit users, branches or warehouses, so a new branch can push you up a tier. Neither showed dinar prices when we checked on 17 October 2026; ask each for a Jordan quote.
- Zoho Books: per organization by plan, each with a set number of users and extra users charged, plus the JoFotara extension.
- Al-Ameen: for on-premise installs, its download centre lists hardware protection-key (dongle) drivers; ask how added users and modules are priced.
- SAP Business One: a partner quote.
The pricing estimator on the METCH website gives an Odoo estimate in dinars.
Data location: neither Odoo Online nor Odoo.sh has a data centre in Jordan; the nearest Odoo.sh zone is Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Only self-hosting on a server in Jordan keeps everything in the country: Odoo Enterprise on the Custom plan, or Odoo Community, which has no licence fee but lacks Enterprise apps such as payroll. Daftra's Arabic Jordan page mentions secured cloud servers on more than one continent; Qoyod states no location. Jordan's Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023 limits transfers to recipients with weaker protection, so ask your legal adviser.
Five questions for Jordanian buyers, and switching to Odoo without stranding JoFotara returns
Before any demo, answer five questions:
- Are you registered for general sales tax, special sales tax, or neither?
- Do you buy in euros or dollars and need landed costs for customs, Aqaba port and clearance?
- Do you run, or plan, an Aqaba zone company or a QIZ line?
- Do you need stock, POS, production or payroll alongside your invoices?
- Who will answer when ISTD changes a JoFotara rule: you, the vendor or a partner?
If questions two to four are all no, Qoyod, Daftra or the JoFotara portal is the sensible choice. If several are yes, plan your Odoo switch around JoFotara:
- Export master data: accounts, customers with a digits-only tax ID, suppliers, and products with their tax. Load them with opening balances, open invoices and stock into a test database.
- Returns: test whether Odoo can send a credit note against an invoice the old tool sent to JoFotara. If not, keep the old tool for returns during a run-off period.
- Device link: ask ISTD or the vendor whether Odoo needs a new Client ID and Secret Key or reuses the old ones, and stop the old tool sending on cutover day.
- Before filing the first sales-tax return from Odoo, check its sales against JoFotara's invoices for the period.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need accounting software for JoFotara if I'm a small trader not registered for sales tax?
Not necessarily. ISTD's 2026 guide, as quoted by Qoyod, lets taxpayers without an accounting system issue invoices on the JoFotara portal through a sub-user. If you do use software, it must be linked to JoFotara; in Odoo you would set the taxpayer type to Unregistered in the sales tax, which sends income invoices, without sales tax. Software pays off once you also need stock, reports or many invoices a day. Confirm your own obligations with ISTD.
Does Odoo accounting support Jordan's national e-invoicing (JoFotara)?
Yes. The Jordan localization (l10n_jo) and the JoFotara connector (l10n_jo_edi) install automatically when the company country is Jordan, run on Odoo Online's Standard plan, and send invoices and credit notes as UBL 2.1 with the returned QR code on the PDF, while l10n_jo_edi_pos handles PoS receipts. The connector is LGPL code in Odoo Community too, though Community has Invoicing only, without the full Accounting app or Payroll.
Does Zoho Books work in Jordan with JoFotara?
Zoho Books has editions for a set list of countries plus a Global edition, and Jordan has no edition of its own, so JoFotara is not built in. Jordanian users rely on Zoho Marketplace extensions; one example is Jordan e-Invoicing for Zoho Books by Simplify9, based in Amman, a paid extension with a 15-day trial. Before you commit, check which documents it sends, such as special-tax invoices and credit notes, and who supports it when JoFotara changes.
How much does Odoo cost in Jordan compared with Qoyod or Daftra?
No single figure fits, because each tool prices differently. Odoo charges per user per month and one plan covers the whole database: a six-user importer on Standard that opens an Aqaba zone company moves all six users to the Custom rate. Run both cases in the pricing estimator on the METCH website, which gives Odoo estimates in dinars. Qoyod and Daftra did not show dinar prices when we checked in October 2026, so ask each for a Jordan quote; Zoho Books adds the JoFotara extension fee.
